oil on canvas laid on board 15' x 19'
A loose impressionist painting, under the influence of the artists he saw in Paris while he studied there between 1894 and 1896. Shortly after this he came to Belfast to work ,not in 1904 as previously thought but earlier[ from correspondence with Oskar Iten].
Roderic O'Connor comes to mind in the pinks and mauves and the Fauvist handling of paint.
Is it one of a number of early works he brought to Belfast painted by the rivers and canals near Paris, or, is it indeed the Pond in Belvoir Park as previously attributed.
